Lots of traffic,
parking problems.
Lots of Muslims will be going to the mosque, which will create a large increase in traffic. This will be a continual problem for those living nearby, but may become a traffic nightmare on festival days. Unless adequate parking spaces are created, parking will become a nightmare for local residents.
5am wake-ups.
In line with Islamic traditions, mosques blare out a loud call to prayer at 5am every Friday. In addition to traffic noise, this will be a real nuisance for many, especially for shift workers.
House values can drop.
The building of a mosque can push down the value of houses in an area, causing residents to lose thousands of dollars in their home's value.

As the Muslim population grows, many long-term residents may begin leaving, as part of "white flight" from the area. Subsequently, fewer traditional Australians will want to move into the area, thus dropping the value of houses.
Muslim migration into area.
It is more than likely that many Muslims will begin moving into the area, to be near the mosque and its offshoot facilities, which will change the nature and character of the area - and long-established residents won't have a choice about it.
Extremists elements.
Islam has a significant amount of extremists within its ranks. Mosques can become a focal point for extremist Muslims. How would this affect your area?
These are real problems that face residents. They also have wide-ranging and long-term implications, not only for the local area, but also for the future of our nation.
